Austria: Vienna

Vienna, or Wien, has been magical for many reasons.
The first reason is that Vienna is also known to be the City of Music. Many famous composers lived here at one time in their career and there is something transcendent about standing in Mozart's and Beethoven's apartment where they created timeless classics that I grew up playing and listening to.
The architecture in this city is pretty amazing as well. I particularly enjoyed St. Peter's church. This was Vienna's first Christian church when Vienna was still a Roman camp under the name of Vindobona. It was rebuilt to what it is today at the beginning of the 18th century. Thus mass has been celebrated daily at St. Peter's for 1600 years!!!
As I have been traveling alone for most of my trip, it was so fun to meet up with my friends Alia and Sean. We went to the Schonbrunn gardens, did a Danube river cruise and walked all over the city. Tonight while eating our gelato and watching street theater, we ran into one of my kindergarteners! We knew we would be there at the same time but were unable to connect and find a time to meet up...but luckily, they were watching the street theater too! It was a fun surprise and definitely made the trip more memorable.
I will miss Vienna and hope I can return in the future to further explore it and its history...
